Dancing with demons

Last year, I was in a vampiric relationship and overlooked all the somatic red flags.

Funny enough I was also waking up to an understanding of 'demons' at that time—what they are and how they operate.

I walked into the trap of spiritual self-gaslighting, not because I was avoiding the truth, but because I was playing a zero-sum game with its layers.

This is what I'd picked up through cultural osmosis:

1. Demons are real and will use you if you allow them to.
2. Demons are beings that have forgotten their divinity. They feed in places where a human has forgotten theirs.
3. Demons are merely projected aspects of the unhealed ego/psyche—also called 'shadows'.
4. Demons are messengers and teachers that illuminate our own divinity through contrast.
5. Demons are God/Source showing up in a certain way.
6. Source is love and therefore, so is everything—including demons.

Substitute whatever you like for 'demons'. Negative entities. Narcissists. Predators. Addictions.

(Also, a brief disclaimer: these are simply understandings my own journey has brought me to. Consider this list an example that may or may not resonate with your current path.)

The point is, my psycho-analytical self fixated on step 3, while I was being siphoned at step 1.

Here's what I understand now:
All of the statements listed are true—simultaneously.
Though, perhaps more importantly—
in progression.

In other words, you cannot safely embody a higher truth without the bones of the ones that came before it.

The levels become more and more integrative but less and less practical on their own.

This is how people end up in an abusive relationship with God.

I got my sovereignty back, not with holy wisdom, but by acting on the level where it mattered.

God IS love.

And love is also a defiantly shut door.
